Club sponsored testing
The Sun City Amateur Radio Club will be sponsoring an Amateur Radio license testing session on September 15, at 1:00 pm. The session will be held at the Bluffton Fire Department Emergency Operations Center, 260 Raider Road, Bluffton. While the test session is open to all, appointments are suggested. Contact Dennis Hopkins, AC4DH, at 207-350-1350 or AC4DH@arrl.net for additional information or to schedule your test.
The FCC has instituted fee of $35 for all Amateur Radio applications; new licenses, upgrades, renewals, vanity calls. Although the rule that includes this fee became effective on April 19, 2021, IT IS NOT YET BEING COLLECTED. The FCC has stated that amateurs will have advance warning of the actual effective date as it will be published in the Federal Register. The ARRL expects the fee to become effective in early 2022. Take advantage of this interim period — if you have ever thought of upgrading your license, take the test in September and avoid the fee! It may very well be your last opportunity to upgrade for only the $15 exam fee.
