2023-6-13 Weekly This & That Newsletter

de KB3FW

Field Day is a little over a week away. Excitement is building around the ham radio community as our hobby’s premier public event is nearing.

Thank you to all from the club who have volunteered to support our June 24th foray into Field Day 2023. It takes dedicated members to make Field Day truly work.

It looks like Sun City TV will be covering our event! Hopefully, we’ll get some visits from others as well.

It’s not too late to express your interest in helping out on this year’s SCHH ARC Field Day. Please let me know if you can help.

If not, please come out to Lake Somerset on June 24th to join in the fun! We are hoping to have a LOT of members get on the air during this year’s event.

MORE ON FIELD DAY IN NEXT WEEK’S THIS & THAT!

Finding the “Smoking Gun”

There is an engineering area called “forensic engineering”. Engineers in this area try to find out why a system or equipment failed. Not only that, the engineers look to recommend how to prevent such failures from happening again. Several years ago, this is what Harve Hnatiuk, KB3FW, found out about a problem at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO.

Please send links to interesting articles, videos, etc. to include in upcoming issues of “This & That” to Harve Hnatiuk at hnat463@gmail.com. Thanks!

The Noble Goals of Herman Munster

You Might Be Addicted to Ham Radio if…

— Every family vacation includes a stop at a Ham radio store.

QSL Card of the Week

This week’s QSL card is from Frank, K2OS. It’s an oldie but goodie! Thanks, Frank! Hope we can keep this feature rolling with lots of input from all members!

Was this QTH right down the road from The Munsters?? “Mummy Mountain” certainly fits!!
