SCHH ARC Presentation at Computer Club Hour by Ken, KN8F: A Great Success!

Last Friday, Ken Finke (KN8F) provided a super presentation to the SCHH Computer Club during the Computer Club’s monthly “Computer Hour”.

Ken Finke, KN8F, provided a great presentation to the Computer Club on stage at Pinckney Hall

Ken’s presentation was geared to people who might not have much knowledge about ham radio. As such, he covered the basics of the radio spectrum and ham radio. He then elaborated on the many ways that hams use computers in our hobby. Ken spoke about the many activities that our SCHH ARC have enjoyed including Field Day operations, Parks on the Air, remote operation at Hunting Island and Moon Bounce (EME). He spoke about repeaters and how our ARC is involved in getting a SCHH 2-meter repeater up and operational in the coming months.

The presentation maintained a high level of interest among those in attendance and generated some great Q&A toward the end of the hour.

Ed Stratton (W1ZZ), Jack Frisch (K2ITZ), and Harve Hnatiuk (KB3FW) interjected some comments and additional information during the hour as well.

Frank Pollino (K2OS) and Jim Shaner (KH6BP) were also on hand to give our ARC a great showing at the presentation.

A big thank you to Ken for putting together and delivering the presentation. Thanks also to all ARC members who were at the Computer Club Hour as ambassadors for our club.

February Membership Meeting

Our next Membership Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 1st, beginning at 7 PM at the Lakehouse (Bayside Room).

Our program will come to us via Zoom and will be presented by MIchael Murphy, WU2D

From WU2D’s QRZ Page…Probably Pre-dates the 1960s!!

For some members, it will be a walk down memory lane. For newer hams, it will be an eye opener. WU2D’spresenation will be on “Vintage Dream Receivers from the 60s and 70s”. What rx’s did you have back in the day? Maybe yours will be one of the receivers that Michael talks about!

Hope to see you there!
