SCHH ARC “This & That” – August 20 , 2024

ARC To Resume Monthly Membership Meetings on Thursday, September 5th

NOTE Meeting Location Changed for September Meeting to Pinckney Hall’s Kiawah River Room

As the saying goes: There is nothing constant but change. True to form, the ARC was notified on August 14th that the Bayside Room at the Lakehouse would not be available on Thursday, September 5th. The renovations that will be done between the Bayside Room and the Dockside Room hopefully will knock down the audible QRM between activities in the two rooms.

The evening’s program on PC Optimization and Speed-up by Phil Blecker of the SCHH Computer Club will begin at 7 PM. The monthly membership meeting will begin at the conclusion of the program.

QSL Card of the Week – From Georgia

Big wow…you had a QSO in Georgia. Ohhhhh, that Georgia!!!!!

Next week, perhaps a QSL card from Cairo (Illinois)?

SCHH ARC Nets – Check-ins Needed!

We are closing in on September and it’d be great to see Net Reports with lots of check-ins as we transition out of the dog days of July/August.

EchoLink has been working well and our check-ins through that service have been good.

You know, the nets are only as good as we make them…and our nets are pretty good! They would be even better if we had more participation.

Please check in this coming week and let everyone know what you’ve been doing.

These are our nets. Enjoy them. They are very special and give us the opportunity to connect with each other on a regular basis while testing our equipment’s connectivity capabilities.

Please keep our nets alive and well by checking in when you can.

Weekly SCHH ARC Nets

Sunday’s Net (8 PM) operates on 147.550 MHz simplex  except for the first two Sundays of the calendar month. The Sunday net will be on the KE4HAM repeater (147.135 + with a tone of 91.5 on both the input and the output) on the first two Sundays of the calendar month. Check-in can be done even if you don’t have a radio up and running via EchoLink by using the link KE4HAM-L when the net is on SIMPLEX and KE4HAM-R when the net is on the SCHH Okatie Repeater.

Wednesday‘s Net (8 PM) operates through the KK4ONF/Jasper repeater, 147.060+. The net can be accessed via EchoLink using the link KE4HAM-R.

If you are interested in being a Net Control, please let Harve know.

SCHH ARC Net Reports:

Thanks to ALL who checked in to our SCHH ARC nets last week.
If you have the time, please check into our club’s nets on a regular basis.

Last week’s check-ins and traffic:

— Wednesday, August 14 : KE4HAM/KB3FW, AI4HH, AD5EN, N0DQD, KQ4JKI, K2ITZ, WB4KSG, K2OS, AA4KK. QNI=9 QTC+0.

— Sunday, August 18: KE4HAM/K2OS, AI4HH, K2ITZ, AD5EN, KJ4BSM, K3WPA, WA6WAY, KO4AQI. QNI=8, QTC=0.

Note: QNI = Number of Check-ins to the net, including Net Control; QTC = Traffic handled (Radiograms).

Thanks for Frank, K2OS, for subbing on Sunday’s net. Bob, WA6WAY, and Harve, KB3FW can attest that Huntsville, AL is a long way from SCHH. More on the Huntsville Hamfest in next week’s This & That.

Other Operating:

Daily —  Monitor the new KE4HAM Repeater: 147.135 MHz + with a tone of 91.5. You may get some good DX spots from time to time and other members may be there if you want to connect/chat.
