Hunting Island Field Trip Just Under Weeks Away!

Club Looks To Operate KE4HAM Near the Hunting Island Lighthouse for POTA and NLLW on August 3rd

For the third consecutive year, the SCHH ARC will spend an August Saturday at Hunting Island State Park operating KE4HAM. This year’s outing will be on August 3rd. The club will do a Parks on the Air activation and a National Lighthouses and Lightships Weekend activation from the Picnic Pavilion near the lighthouse.

Initial plans are to operate four stations, one on CW and three on SSB.

Admission to the state park is $5 per person for senior citizens. Lunch will be provided for a nominal cost of $5 per person to cover the purchase of hot dogs, buns, condiments, soft drinks, water, chips, and a pastry. Feel free to bring along your favorite snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as well.

Picnic Pavilion is near the lighthouse and to the left of the “trail” from beach.

Your RSVP is needed so that enough food and drinks, etc. can be brought for our group. Please let Jack Frisch, K2ITZ (jfrisch40@gmail.com) or Harve Hnatiuk, KB3FW (hnat463@gmail.com) know if you are coming to the event no later than Wednesday, July 31st.

Looking forward to seeing many members on Hunting Island in early August!

13 Colonies Results Are In: NC Wins the Crown This Year

South Carolina’s two-year winning streak was snapped convincingly by North Carolina’s K2K operation during the 16th Annual 13 Colonies Special Event. K2L, South Carolina’s call sign, fared well but was beaten by not only our immediate neighbors to the north but also by New York (K2A) and Virginia (K2B).

The complete order of finish is shown below.

Not to be confused with the famous softball beer-game fraternity: I Tappa Keg. Or the dessert lovers group: Beta Eta Pi.

SCHH ARC Nets – Important Update

Ron Frick, AI4HH, advises me that EchoLink will not be available for our weekly Sunday and Wednesday 2-meter nets for the next few weeks. Ron will be checking out the new radio/PC interface and new PC with its operating system.

Hopefully, we can get EchoLink back on the net in the near future.

SCHH ARC Nets – Radio Check-ins Needed!

Have you checked in to one of the SCHH ARC nets lately?

These are the times of year when net participation drops off typically. Can you help to offset that trend?

Please check in this coming week and let everyone know what you’ve been doing.

We are without EchoLink for the time being…please check-in the old fashioned way by using a radio if you are in SCHH or its vicinity.

These are our nets. Enjoy them. They are very special and give us the opportunity to connect with each other on a regular basis while testing our equipment’s connectivity capabilities.

Please keep our nets alive and well by checking in when you can.

Weekly SCHH ARC Nets

Sunday’s Net (8 PM) operates on 147.550 MHz simplex  on the last two Sundays of every month. Otherwise, the Sunday net will be on the KE4HAM repeater (147.135 + with a tone of 91.5 on both the input and the output). Note that EchoLink will not be available until further notice.

Sunday, July 28th’s net will be on SIMPLEX. There will be no EchoLink.
