SCHH ARC Ready for ARRL Field Day
Annual Off-the-Grid Operation Set for Saturday, June 22nd, at Lake Somerset
ARRL Field Day is this coming weekend! Our ARC will be operating five or more stations using the club call sign KE4HAM on Saturday afternoon at Lake Somerset.
Set-up begins around 11 AM. Note that this is earlier than previously published. The set-up time has been moved up to ensure that we can get all antennas and stations ready to operate when Field Day officially kicks off at 2 PM Eastern Time. The club will provide lunch for the “set-up crew” around 1 PM. We will most likely begin to shutdown operations around 5 PM, earlier if the band conditions are not good. Clean-up of the site should be done no later than 6 PM or so.
On Wednesday, June 12th, eleven members came to the Field Day site to set up and test antennas. Many thanks to all who pitched in: WA6WAY, AI4HH, K2OS, WA8NLX, WB4KSG, AB2LT, K3WPA, KD8VL, K2ITZ, KQ4AKI, and KB3FW. For a club of 60 members, it was truly impressive to see so many members come out for up to 3 hours on a Wednesday morning to prepare for Field Day.
We’ll be looking to operate stations on 15M SSB, 20M SSB, 40M SSB, 6M FT8, and 15-20M CW on Saturday afternoon. Note that the SCHH community has been informed of our plans in a Bluffton Sun article in May and a blurb in the Sun City Club News Email last week, which is shown below.
All KE4HAM stations, most particularly the SSB stations, will look to get members who have not operated a lot or recently and visitors to our site “on the air”. Hopefully, we will have a lot of SCHH residents who stop by our site and are curious about our hobby and our club.
SCHH ARC members who join us on Field Day can bring snacks for all to enjoy. The club will provide a good supply of water but members should feel free to also bring other non-alcohol drinks. Lemonade seems to be popular at Field Days!

Hope to see many club members at Lake Somerset on Saturday. Keep fingers crossed for good weather!
